Chris joined Godsey Law Firm in 2024 and has been serving clients for over thirty-five years. He began his career as an insurance defense attorney before founding his own law firm in 2002, where he has since dedicated his practice to representing individuals injured due to the negligence or fault of others.

Over the course of his extensive career, Chris has handled and tried cases in both state and federal courts throughout Texas and in other states, including California and Mississippi. He has tried jury cases involving motor vehicle accidents, commercial trucking accidents, maritime incidents, medical and dental malpractice, workers’ compensation claims, and premises liability cases. Additionally, he has litigated against insurance companies for denying storm damage claims and failing to honor their contractual obligations to policyholders. Chris has also represented clients in appellate matters before the Supreme Court of Texas, several Texas Courts of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization—an honor held by only about one percent of attorneys in Texas. Board Certification requires demonstrated legal acumen, substantial experience, peer evaluations, and passing a rigorous examination. Chris has held this certification since December 2001.

Chris earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 1987 and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1990.
His commitment to the legal profession extends beyond the courtroom. He has served on the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee and is an active volunteer with the State Bar of Texas Lawyer Assistance Program. Chris is also deeply involved in civic and community service. He is a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Above all, Chris is most proud of his three adult children and their individual accomplishments. His eldest son is a physician, his middle son is an attorney, and his daughter is an Emmy Award-winning film producer.
